Clearly I go through phases where certain time periods attract me. Right now the fifties era has captivated my interest; the greaser look especially. I discovered these photos on the unbelievable site called howtobearetronaut; its an amazing website for any history buff like me. It has dozens of different pictures and media ranging from the early 1900's to the 70's and beyond... I can spend hours at a time roaming this site. God Bless Poland. The fashion industry owes a major thanks to the polish population; they produced some of the most beautiful models the fashion industry has seen. Anna, Jac, Magdelena, Kasia and Anja. These girls are absolutely stunning... each of them at one point or another have been my M.O.C. (model of choice). Anna, my Anna... I will always be partial towards her, I have loved her since the start of her career. The runways and editorials simply wouldnt be the same without them.

I have always wanted to wear a dress that encompassed me when I sat; exactly the way it does in the photograph above. I remember a scene from 'Beauty and the Beast' when Belle sits down in front of the fire to read and her dress fall around her just like that. One of my grandmothers wedding photos were also taken in a pose similar to this. Its absolutely stunning.

Since I've been home I have been watching HBO's new series "Boardwalk Empire"... Its set in the 1920s, there is sex, drinking and jazz. The era has always intrigued me... life simply was a party! Yesterday and today have made up the worst days of my life. I had to leave behind London and be shipped back to New York. I have never been more devastated in my life. There are no truer words than "you do not realize what you have got until its gone." I am have hit rock bottom, but like it is said, if you fall off the horse you have to get right back on it again.... so I am determined to get my act together and return back to my 'home' this winter.

New Beginnings
My laptop folders have become littered with various pictures that catch my eye on different sites... they are stuffed to the gills. "Happiness is only real when shared" and same goes for beautiful pictures.. what is the point of finding these remarkable images and hiding them away from the rest of the world? There isnt! Therefore I have come to the conclusion to continue posting to this blog... its like a modern day scrap book that you can look back on, flourish from... in short, its good to be back.

I havent posted many editorials of Freja... its not that I have anything against her per say... I have something against that god awful haircut shes been sporting for the past few seasons. That shaggy dead animal on top of her head just does her no good in anyway. She looked stunning with the long hair, blunt bangs, also the cropped cut looked divine on her... the growing out process hasnt been pretty... until, well now.. I finally sat down to watch the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" it was a magical movie. It was incredibly long but what you walk away with from it is remarkable. Also, Cate Blanchett is just breathtaking... you can't take your eyes off her. The movie was done beautifully.

Each summer I like to "reinvent" myself for the fall and the up coming year (year meaning school year)... the summer is when one is laid back... putting on your face or styling your hair everyday fall by the wayside.. that being said my love for make up, beauty products, hair styles etc. never does. I spend my summers thinking about a 'fresh' way to start off the year... I love change but I like subtle change... I am not chopping my hair off nor am I going to start wearing colored eye shadows.. I have decided that I am going to dye my hair a coppery reddish brown (see above).

She just exudes french.. a still taken from the movie 'Inglorious Basterds", which by the way takes places in World War II era France,Shossana could pull this look off now or then and look remarkably chic. The French have always stuck with 'classic' pieces and its an outlook we should add to our books... if this isnt proof enough, I'm not sure what it. Classic pieces stand the test of time.

A long lost lover returns to me.... After nearly two months of no use, my laptop is being repaired! After suffering from water damage I thought this little babies days were over... but I worked out a deal with the apple store (I love Apple, so accommodating and easy to work with) and now in about a week me and my laptop will be reunited. <3

the perfect medium. I always say I want to live a life that is defined by 'the perfect medium'.... not too much, not too little. The perfect medium is applied to all aspects of life. Not too rich, not too poor, somewhere comfortably in between. Not too busy, not too idle. Not too loud, not too quiet... etc etc. In regards to this post however, the perfect medium refers to superb mix of metropolitan life, with rustic rural life within nearly every European city. Coming from a city (New York) where pollution seeps up through the street, grey gloomy cement make up the city's facade, taxis, buses, and emergency sirens nosily fill the atmosphere, European cities really find the perfect way of combining urban life and rural life into a perfect 'medium' ground. Winding stone streets with hidden doorways can lead you to markets full of fresh produce, spices, breads, meats... there is something so much more appealing about this than a carton of greasy Chinese food.
